First Kara visit
2010-03-31 00:00:00
Let me preface this by saying it's basically a brag post. But, it's also a post to thank the druid community for all the great information I've gotten. Anyway...
Last night, I went into Kara for the first time on my druid. I just dinged 70 last Friday. Fortunately, since it's an alt, I benefitted mightily from having a LW'ing main to get the Heavy Clefthoof set, the Stylin' Purple Hat, and the Belt of Natural Power almost immediately. I have studied Emmerald's list extensively. So, yesterday I sat at 18.7k armor and about 12.7k health, with 415 defense and 37 dodge. I felt I was quite undergeared for Kara, but when the RL asked my stats and I told him, he didn't have a problem. For sure, it helped that I was going in as an off-tank with a well...
Boomkin Debate: Crit or Haste?
2010-03-30 00:00:00
Ok, I normally raid as a resto druid but I finally got the chance to go boomkin for once in Gruuls and I cranked out over 1k dps and was 4th on the damage done (I love, LOVE 5-6k starfire crits). I generally have gone for the whole "stack a piss load of crit" and watch your tank get nervous as you near in on his threat levels.
Now, the real question I'm trying to get at here is what do you guys think is more beneficial towards boomkins. Stacking a high amount of crit or going for a c...
The history of the Druid class
2010-03-29 00:00:00
hi. im Quor, and this is Druidic History 101. its a thread thats designed for the newer druids out there, and for people who dont know anything about druids that just might wander by. im writing this to give everyone who stops in an idea about what druids were, what they went thru, and what theyve become. so sit down friends, brethren, young ones....and learn.
About Me
ive been playing druid since the orignal retail launch of the game. i picked WoW up about a week after the launch (didnt preorder), and having come fresh off of final fantasy 11 (as a warrior) i knew that warriors were a VERY gear dependant class. gearing a warrior is expensive, and im not a guy whos savvy about making money. plus i wanted something different. i did a little research online, and came up with three choices; rogue, hunter, or druid. well, rogues and hunters seemed like damage dealers, and i didnt want to be a dime-a-dozen class, so druid it was. plus i LOVE shapeshifting. the very idea of it just makes me all tingly. im a big Werewolf: The Apocalypse fan for those White Wolf faithful out there, and druids fit that little niche pretty nicely.
so i made a druid.
As It Was
heres a link to what the retail launch druid talents looked like:
OG Talents
ya. thats right. huricane used to be a TALENT. and im sure many of you are wondering what the hell is. look down a little further in balance and youll see "weapon balance". 10 more damage with melee weapons. easily the most useless talent in game, being in the casting tree like it is.
click the next tab and check out feral. bloated, aint it? as of today, the only talents in the feral tree that are completely untouched are ferocity and feral charge. everything else has either been moved, adjusted, or just plain tossed out. im especially fond of the TWO 31-pt talents at the bottom, one of which is a 2-pointer. while a passive -25 to shifting costs aint bad, an extra combo on pounce was laughable (altho with the recent changes, it doesnt sound like such a bad idea anymore).
in short, feral and balance were TERRIBLY broken. hurricane completely sucked (it was pbaoe...or point blank aoe...think channeled arcane explosion), the rest of balance was, to be nice, crap, and feral....feral made grown war veterans weep.
it wasnt just talents tho. we didnt have a lot of the skills we have now, skills many druids consider as staples.
remember how leveling from 20-32 was? when youve got cat form, but all you have is claw, rake, rip, and that opening shred? well, imagine that, but all the way to 60. thats right, there was no ferocious bite. that didnt come until a few months later. there also no such thing as frenzied regeneration, or ba...
going resto, need enchant suggestions
2010-03-27 00:00:00
A good site to review for pre-raid resto gear is Also I would recommend downloading Rawr. You can import your armory profile and you can see how different gear and enchants will affect your abilities.
-Hakana Level 80 Tauren Druid
DeathFrmAfar Level 61 Blood Elf Hunter
UncleArthur Level 34 Orc Warlock
ShamCow Level 17 Tauren ShamanYou seem to be in the same place that I was a few weeks ago. I was feral and noticed the complete lack of healers so I switched to resto. I would say make a list of gear that you ...
Forced Hearth while in Cat? (Edit: Punished Get Rewarded)
2010-03-26 00:00:00
I was in the hallway near violet hold in cat form looking through atlas when all of a sudden I got a loading screen. Once the game came back up, it was as if I just hearthed because I had a 60min cool down, but I was still in cat as soon as the screen loaded... and you can't use hearthstone while in cat.
So what gives? I've never seen this before.
Edit:
Had 43mins til cd was up as of 4mins ago. I went outside to do some work and came back in and noticed the 43min cd remaining with me still in cat. I alt-tabbed to look at a video for a fight and then...
question relating to armor
2010-03-25 00:00:00
I realize this has probably been asked before, but I've dug back a few (5 or so) pages and couldn't find anything...
I have a tauren druid (obviously), and I'm getting close to dual speccing... I'm also getting close to level 70, which, not having lich king is where I'll be at for quite some time.... so to the question...
I'm looking for uber lvl 70 druid armor sets (or not) for both restoration and feral... I've looked at the site in the armor sets section, but I really don't know what I'm looking for (this is my main toon, she's my pride and joy)... I'd ask guildmates, but I'm the only high level druid...
if it helps any, i'm looking to go melee dps with the feral ...
I realize what armor is best really relates more to personal tast...
fast or slow weapon (this time with full words)
2010-03-24 00:00:00
It will all depend on your spec and your playstyle.
Your question entails multiple answers. "is a faster range weapon or a slower best?"
Let's take into consideration how you're spec'd. If you are a BM spec, you are pumping out arrows a lot faster then an MM spec. As such you would want a faster bow to help with your flurry of arrows being hurled at the enemy, allowing you to crit more often, and in turn give you more dps at a much faster pace.
For BM Spec I would suggest the Grand Marshall's Bullseye at 1.80 Speed. Why? Because with a BM spec that will be greatly reduced, and you will be pumping out arrows very very quickly. It's nice for pvp to be able to interrupt any caster with your arrows alone, not to mention your pet will be constantly on them. There's no way they can cast anything but an instant cast spell out.
Now for MM spec (what I currently am), I would highly recommend a slower more damaging bow. I say "more damaging" only in the displayed damage of the bow. I currently still use my Rhok, I love it, has great high-end damage. I crit for a lot more on the high-end with this bow,...

2010-03-22 00:00:00
Is it me, Or is anyone elses pet acting a little retarded? Last night i told my pet to stay back while i went after a quest item that involved running tru a lava pool. I then made my way out of the pool it my hotkey to bring the pet into follow mode, But it didnt it just stood there. Good leather or crappy mail?
2010-03-20 00:00:00
As long as you can get your mount there's no harm in upgrading your mail I think.
It also depends on how often you find yours...
really bothering question for me!
2010-03-18 00:00:00
Well, Healthpools and Manapools can vary enormously between Hunters. It all depends on what kind of playstyle you have, and what you usually do.
When I PvPd alot on my Hunter (at 60), I had around 6K health, and quite alot of Attack Power, but my manapool was very small. I couldn't do a sustained fight at all. I could however, dish out enormous amounts of damage in a very short amount of time, and take quite alot of damage too.
But...
